What are Renewable Energy sources and its types

Renewable energy is energy that has been derived from natural resources of earth that are infinite. For example sunlight and wind.

As we know that "climate change " has become hot topic nowadays. it is mainly because of high Carbon dioxide Emission . There are many reasons of high CO2 emission such as Greenhouse Gases ,  burning of Fossil Fuels , deforestation, and many more.

Fossil Fuels include petrol, oils ,coal, natural gas which causes carbon emission. The fastest finished mineral and oil are the two largest sources of energy in the present time and therefore the whole world is moving forward to the use of renewable energy sources to meet the needs of its current and future energy.

So, we need Some Alternative of fossil fuels.

What is renewable energy?

Renewable energy is energy that has been derived from natural resources of earth that are infinite. For example sunlight and wind.

The sun, the wind, and the running water are the source of some energy that will never end because they are produced again by nature. It is much less harmful to the environment.

What are the source of renewable energy?

The sun, air, and natural water flows are the three most prominent sources of renewable energy, which are being adopted in India along with various parts of the world. Biomass and geothermal energy have also been kept in the category of renewable energy sources. Solar energy is obtained from the Sun, while wind power is achieved by wind turbines running by air.

Similarly, hydroelectric power is also achieved by stopping the flow of water from dams and by running hydro electric turbines.  The same biomass energy is generated by biological commodities and waste from trees and animals.

Types of renewable energy

At the macro level, we can classify these renewable energies on the basis of their sources.  Like air, sunlight, wind and ocean are also examples of various types of renewable energy sources.

1.  Solar energy :

This energy is generated by the sun's heat. Solar power is energy from the sun that is converted into electrical or thermal energy. It is the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source on earth.

The amount of solar energy that reaches on the surface of earth in one hour is more than the planet’s total requirements of energy for a whole year.  This amount of solar energy we can use for various purposes such as cooking, heating and drying.

2. Wind Energy :

Wind power is a type of solar energy. Wind energy is an excellent example of renewable energy, in which energy is produced by air.

When the wind flows in the wind turbine, renewable energy is generated by its rotational motion.  This wind turbine is connected to the energy generated by the wind, by which the electricity is produced.  Wind chakkiyas are constructed at large levels for the construction of wind energy, where the wind flows very fast.

Wind energy is a clean energy source, this means that it does not pollute the air. Wind energy doesn’t produce carbon dioxide(CO2), or release any harmful products that can cause environmental degradation such as smog, acid rain, or other heat-trapping gases.

3. Hydroelectric Energy :

.Hydroelectric is the energy that is produced by stopping the flow of water from the river and by running the turbines using the flow of the river.  Pumped-storage-hydro power and run-of-river-hydro power are two different ways in which electricity is produced by hydro power projects.

Hydro power does not generate pollution, and therefore is a much more environmentally-friendly energy option for our environment rather than the use of coal to generate electricity.

4.  Bio-energy :

Bio energy has been originated from biomass, which is a renewable energy source for generating liquid fuels in which the fuel is obtained by the decomposition of various types of agricultural waste, plants and animals waste.

By converting domestic waste, agricultural, and industrial into solid, liquid and gas fuel, biomass generates power at a much lower economic cost.

5. Geothermal energy :

Geothermal energy is such a renewable energy that arises from the heat inside the earth.  Geothermal power plants produce electricity by absorbing the energy of the earth and hot cliffs.  Apart from this, geothermal energy can also be used to keep water and buildings warm.

6. Ocean energy  :

Ocean energy is also one of the major sources of renewable energy, in which energy can be generated by tidal waves and sea waves. Although there has not been any particular development in the field of ocean energy, but as much as 70 percent of the Earth's surface is surrounded by the ocean, then there is a great potential for energy generation in this area. Therefore, the energy produced by the ocean can be a big contributor to our energy needs in the future.

FAQ Related to Renewable Energy

Why is renewable energy important?

Renewable energy can play vital role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable energy emits low air pollutants. That’s better for our health.

Is solar energy renewable?

Solar energy is a renewable source of energy that is sustainable, cheap and infinite.  It is totally an environmentally friendly source of energy because it comes directly from the Sun.

What is Green Energy?

Green energy is a type of energy that is generated from natural resources, such as sunlight, wind and water.  Green energy do not harm the environment through factors such as emission of greenhouse gases into the environment.

What is the Difference between Green Energy and Renewable Energy ?

Green energy or Clean energy is that which comes from natural sources, such as the sun. which do not release pollutants into the air, while renewable energy comes from sources that are constantly being replenished, such as hydro power, wind power or solar energy.  It also include some forms of biomass energy.

What is alternative energy?

Alternative energy is any energy source that does not use fossil fuels such as coal, petrol and natural gas. Energy that we get from natural resources - sun, wind and water.
