What Does It Mean "A CREDIT CARD A WEEK" ?

Everyone knows that nobody eat plastic Directly , but indirectly everyone eat plastic . How ??
Let's Discuss ,

Plastic pollution has become hot topic nowadays and really its a serious problem for humans as well as animals and Marine species. because plastic is non biodegradable product.

This plastic that we consume comes from "microplastics" --
Microplastic are particles smaller than five millimeters -- which are making their way into our food, drinking water , shellfish  and the air.

Tiny particles of plastic

On An  average person could be consuming 1,769 particles of plastic in a  week from water only.
Globally, we are ingesting an average of 5 grams of plastic every week, the equivalent of a credit card, a new study commissioned by the environmental charity WWF International  with the help of the University of Newcastle, in Australia.

{ WWF - WWF is one of the world’s largest and most experienced non governmental  conservation organizations, with over 5 million supporters and a global network active in more than 100 countries.}

This study shows us that everyperson could be consuming on average over 100,000 microplastics every year. Which is approximately 21 grams a month, just over 250 grams a year.

How Microplastic Enter in Human  Body ?

More than 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans every year. whereas only India produces over 25,000 tonnes of plastic waste daily, much of which ends up in landfills. An average single use plastic bottle take approximately 450 years to completely degrade.

only 10% plastic is recycled other waste is dump into rivers, oceans, landfills etc. Then they break down into tiny particles called microplastic . These tiny particles can originate from many sources, such as artificial clothes fibers, and microbeads found in some toothpastes etc.

Apart from this,  those plastic which dump into oceans eaten by fishes and other marine species and then  enter into food chain.
Microplastics have been found in many everyday foods and drinks, such as water, beer, shellfish and salt.

Is Microplastic Damaging Our Health ?

Most plastic becomes trash after a single use. It has contaminated the soil, rivers and oceans. It’s even entered our food chain through fishes and marine species. If you are vegetarian still plastic effects your body. This report tells us that The amount of plastic pollution varies by location, but nowhere is untouched.

In the United States, approximately 95% of tap water samples contained plastic fibres, with an average of 9.6 fibres/litre. European water is less polluted, with fibres showing up in only 72.2 % of water samples, and only 3.8 fibres/litre.

How much plastic effect our health this is not still clear but this is a growing concern about health risk.

its crystal clear that plastic is harmful for our health but "We cannot just remove it," said Kavita Prakash-Mani, global conservation director at WWF International. it is very difficult to remove plastic from environment.

How we can solve Microplastic problem ?

Many of us are doing our bit to reduce plastic pollution for example , say to "no use polythene" , by using reuseable water bottles etc. but this is not sufficient. nowadays plastic pollution has become mammoth problem for world.

it,s time that government and big companies take this problem serious and together find solution to tackle with this problem.

statistics data shows us that Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic is dumped into oceans. There may now be around 5.25 trillion macro and microplastic pieces floating in the open ocean. And about 100,000 marine creatures a year die from plastic entanglement.

some countries already ban plastic

Already many country's governments are concerned about plastic pollution .

1. on world environment day 2018 with theme "beat plastic  pollution" hosted by india . India's prime minister narindra modi declared that india will ban all single-use plastics by 2022.

Also read - World Environment Day 2019 to "beat air pollution"

2. recently, Canada prime minister said that,  "Canada to ban single-use plastics as early as 2021"
3. on  may 2019,  Plastic straws, cotton buds and drink stirrers to be banned in England.

These are very praiseworthy steps taken by governments . other countries also come forward to reduce plastic pollution.

Thank you!!
